SAN DIEGO – Dr. Jeffrey L. Saver explains how his trial of in-ambulance magnesium treatment for stroke was both a success and a failure. Magnesium therapy didn’t improve stroke outcomes, but successful administration of treatment within the first "golden hour" after stroke symptoms started paved the way for future trials, giving other potentially neuroprotective agents in the field.
