Allergan announces that the US Food and Drug Administration has accepted for filing a supplemental new drug application for Teflaro (ceftaroline fosamil) to expand the label to include the treatment of children 2 months and older with acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) including infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) caused by Staphylococcus pneumoniae and other designated susceptible bacteria. Teflaro is a bactericidal cephalosporin with activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. Teflaro is already approved for ABSSSI and CABP in adult patients.
